Metabolic Approach

Metabolic therapy is an integrated approach to cancer treatment that focuses on metabolic differences between healthy and malignant cells.

A diet change, nutritional supplementation, and other treatments can all be used to help maintain the health of healthy cells while starving cancer cells of the nutrients they need to thrive.

Vitamin C/K3 Therapy (Apatone)

Metabolic therapy

Vitamins

Vitamins are organic substances indispensable for the functioning of our bodies, which can be produced in our organism, or can be consumed through our food. Each group of vitamins will have different physiological properties, which will activate a series of biomechanisms essential for life.

The functions of our body require a specific concentration of each vitamin, when there is a decrease in the concentration of any vitamin, our body experiences a series of changes that produce symptoms in the patient, this vitamin deficiency is known as avitaminosis. On the contrary, when there is an elevation in the necessary concentration of certain vitamins, such as vitamin C, studies have shown that they generate a therapeutic effect, which can be used in the treatment of multiple diseases such as cancer or diabetic neuropathy, but these high concentrations of vitamins can only be achieved when they are supplied as a dietary supplement or intravenously in high concentrations.

Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid

It is an essential vitamin for the human being because our body is not able to synthesize it, forcing its consumption in the diet. Its therapeutic use in diseases such as cancer, has been studied in recent decades, where applied in high concentrations and in combination with other therapies has shown anti-tumor and immunomodulatory effects. The therapy with high concentrations of Vitamin C has also shown to produce a sensitizing effect on cancer cells before other types of therapies, increasing the effectiveness of these with less doses.

Vitamin K3 or Menadione

Vitamin K3, also called Menadione, is a fat-soluble vitamin (meaning that it dissolves in fat) obtained from the diet by consuming foods such as fish, liver or beef, but the foods with the highest concentration of this vitamin are green leafy vegetables, as well as, the body obtains it through its production in the intestinal bacterial microflora. Its best known functions are related to the activation of coagulation factors necessary for proper blood flow. In its therapeutic use, it has been found that under certain pathological conditions such as cancer, it is related to the activation of proteins that induce the death of cancer cells.

How does it work?

The use of Vitamin C in high concentrations in combination with Vitamin K3, in the treatment against cancer, has demonstrated that it stimulates certain biochemical mechanisms where it induces the selective death of cancer cells, this through the production of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2), which generates an effect of oxidative stress inside the cancer cell, thus activating a series of protein reactions that induce its destruction. Another effect produced by this therapy is through the stimulation of collagen production in the extracellular matrix of the immune cells, providing them with a more stable structure, thus improving their functionality.

The appropriate dosage ratio between vitamin C and vitamin K3 is 100:1 respectively, with this ratio therapeutic effects have been achieved with minimal side effects, without causing damage to the body. At present, research continues on the mechanisms by which these vitamins generate this anticarcinogenic effect, their use has become popular over the years due to the clinical results obtained, being this therapy used by complementary alternative approaches and even as an adjuvant in conventional cancer therapies.

Amygdalin or Vitamin B17 with Insulin Potentiation Therapy

Insulin Potentiation Therapy in Mexico Omsana Health Tijuana

It is a compound found naturally in the seeds of different fruits, such as apricot seeds, a fruit tree native to Asia. Its first uses date back to 1845 in Russia as a treatment against cancer, in the U.S.A. it began to be used in 1920 with its consequent prohibition that still generates controversy today, even so, today it is widely used internationally, generally in conjunction with other therapies to enhance the effect against cancer cells.

How does it work?

Amygdalin, also called Laetrile in its synthesized version, is an aromatic cyanogenic (cyanide-producing) compound. The affinity that cancer cells have for this compound is fundamental to focus the cytotoxic effect of the cyanide generated. Among other observed interactions of this compound is the stimulation of the immune system, with the activation of immune cells and the release of immune modulating molecules, as well as triggering cytotoxic reactions and inhibiting metabolic pathways in cancer cells. They can induce the organized death of tumor cells (Apoptosis) as well as slow the progression of this type of cells throughout the body (Metastasis) by inhibiting molecules that serve for the mobilization (integrins) of cancer cells, this understanding has been recorded from in vitro experiments.

At the clinical level, there are confusing studies about its results when used as monotherapy, but when used in combination with other therapies, there are and continue to be registered multiple cases in which the patient presents improvement and even regression of the disease. The results are dependent on a large number of variables, and some of these variables cannot be modified, such as genetics or the type of cancer the patient suffers, but there are variables that can be modified, such as the patient’s lifestyle and biochemical conditions. In both conventional and alternative treatments, there is a probability of success and failure, what we try to do in OMSANA, is to generate the right conditions by using therapies with different mechanisms of action, which can increase the chances of success, trying to modify what is modifiable.

Insulin Potentiaton Therapy

Insulin Potentiaton Therapy is usually related to the use of chemotherapies, but instead of using a cytotoxic chemical agent, in OMSANA we use the properties of Amygdalin to generate cyanide inside the cancer cell and thus damage its structure in a more focused way.

The cancer cell consumes a large amount of sugars in order to maintain its accelerated metabolism, so they are more susceptible to hormones such as insulin. By administering Amygdalin in conjunction with insulin, we increase the absorption of the drug by the cancer cells, enhancing the effect of Amygdalin on the tumor cells. In this way we use the altered metabolism of the tumor cells to impregnate them with a greater amount of Amygdalin, this is how Insulin Potentiated Therapy works.

Intravenous Ozone

Ozone acts in the metabolism of oxygen, affects the hemoglobin dissociation curve increasing the availability of oxygen in our organism, increases the transmembrane transport of oxygen to the intracellular space, stimulates erythrogenesis which is the production of red blood cells. In the immune system, it stimulates the release of molecules that modulate the antitumor immune response such as IFN, TNF and IL-2.

How does it work?

During its use in the last decades under clinical models, it has been possible to gather enough information to understand to some extent, how ozone modifies certain metabolic pathways in our body, some of these mechanisms are: The antioxidant mechanism, reducing cell damage produced by the reactivity and instability of free radicals, this by indirect activation of enzymes or proteins, which stabilize these free radicals thus generating an antioxidant effect, reducing oxidative stress in healthy cells, since this type of cell damage is directly related to multiple diseases including cancer. It also intervenes in oxygen metabolism, it affects the hemoglobin dissociation curve increasing the availability of oxygen in our body, increases the transmembrane transport of oxygen into the intracellular space, stimulates erythrogenesis which is the production of red blood cells, as well as generating vasodilator effects, thus activating the aerobic metabolism necessary for healthy cells to survive. In the immune system, it stimulates the release of molecules that modulate the antitumor immune response by activating the defenses, such as IFN, TNF and IL-2.

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is a polyphenol, a chemical substance found in nature, mainly in grape skins, peanuts and berries. The use of this substance for therapeutic purposes is very old, having the first records more than 2,000 years ago in the ancient Oriental Medicine, where medicinal plants containing this substance were used, it was until the middle of the last century when it was possible to isolate this compound and study in more detail its effects on diseases such as cancer or cardiovascular diseases.

How does it work?

The studies that have been carried out with Resveratrol have shown favorable effects in patients with cardiovascular diseases, circulatory diseases and patients with cancer. The results obtained in these studies have shown effects in inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, the induction of organized death in this type of cells (apoptosis), in addition to modulating the tumor microenvironment by interfering with the creation of blood vessels to nourish the tumor, inhibiting the HIF-1α factor involved in angiogenesis in our body.

Myers Cocktail

Patients who are under a constant state of physiological stress, such as cancer patients, may develop chronic fatigue due to the weakening caused by the disease. At OMSANA we offer a series of therapeutic options to treat these fatigue symptoms and provide more energy to the patient. One of these options is the Myers Solution, a formula composed of vitamins, electrolytes and essential amino acids that has proven effective in treating chronic fatigue syndromes, migraines, depression, allergic reactions, among other ailments. This formula was designed by Dr. John Myers, a Baltimore physician who pioneered the use of intravenous vitamins and minerals in the treatment of multiple diseases.

Metformin against Cancer

treatment of type 2 diabetes Omsana Health Tijuana

Metformin is a drug of natural origin, obtained from the plant Galega Officinalis, used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes, due to the regulating effect it has on the sugar levels in our body, increasing the sensitivity in the peripheral tissues in the uptake of sugar, and inhibiting gluconeogenesis in the liver. In the last decades the physiological effects of Metformin and how it could intervene in other types of diseases have been studied.

How does it work?

The anti-cancer effects that have been attributed to Metformin are divided into two sections, the indirect effects and the direct effects.

The indirect effects are related to how Metformin regulates sugar and insulin levels in our body, because high levels of insulin and sugars create an environment that favors tumor growth. The accelerated metabolism of a cancer cell requires a large amount of energy to maintain its growth pattern, so if this type of cell has access to large amounts of sugar, it will have no impediment in developing fully. Insulin is a hormone that, in addition to lowering sugar levels in our body, is a cell growth factor. Cancer cells are sensitive to this growth factor, therefore, with higher insulin levels, there will be an increase in the pattern of cell growth, thus facilitating the spread of cancer in the body.

Three mechanisms have been described by which Metformin decreases the excessive production of insulin and reduces blood sugar levels, without the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). The first mechanism is by inhibiting gluconeogenesis (sugar production) in the liver, the second is by increasing insulin sensitivity in muscle tissue, and the third mechanism acts by slowing the absorption of sugars in the gastrointestinal system. In this way we decrease the energy source of the cancer cells, creating an environment where they cannot develop so fast.

The direct effects of Metformin against cancer are related to the activation of the AMPK enzyme complex, this enzyme complex induces a stimulation in tumor suppression genes, such as LKB1 or the famous p53 gene considered the “guardian of the genome”, these anti-tumor genes are of great importance in the activation of our system, generating an effective immune response against tumor cells eliminating them completely or preventing their spread throughout the body (Metastasis). At the metabolic level, it increases insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, and induces energy production through the oxidation of fatty acids.

The therapeutic use of Metformin is not exclusive for patients with Diabetes or sugar problems, since there is no risk of presenting hypoglycemia or a drop in blood sugar levels that could compromise the patient. The protocol we use at OMSANA is linked to a specific nutritional plan and the monitoring of blood sugar levels, adapting the dosage of Metformin according to the patient’s response over a period of 3 weeks.
